Job Summary
Heitmeyer Consulting is seeking an Engineering Manager to join its banking client to manage its retail credit card and installment loans teams and applications. This role is contract-to-hire and can be 100% remote in EST or CST time zones required to work EST hours. This role requires travel once a month to Buffalo, NY for 3 days.

Job Description:
Leading a dynamic team and overseeing the replacement of a legacy system, this role will require both technical expertise and strong leadership skills, with a focus on strategic planning, vendor management, and team development. Initially, you will work closely with a team of 8-10 members, eventually transitioning into direct management following the contract period and will provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities. The replacement of the legacy system will involve your expertise in RFP, vendor selection, and developing strategic roadmaps and solutions architecture for long-term success.

Required Skills:

• 12+ years of software development before moving into people management
• 5+ years of people management experience (managing FTEs)
• Background in mainframe and distributed systems (COBOL, .NET, Java, etc.)
• Banking experience
• Experience in solution architecture with deep understanding of technology, strategy, and innovation
• Agile methodology
• Vendor selection and RFP experience
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technology and business partners
• Self-sufficient, proactive, and ability to manage tasks with no support.
• Knowledge of compliance and regulations

• Consumer loan servicing
