Job Title: Active Directory Principal Engineer
Location: Phoenix, Columbus – onsite
Job Type: 6 month contract to hire.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Active Directory Principal Engineer to lead complex directory services initiatives, including domain consolidation and migration efforts. This individual will play a critical role in planning, executing, and elevating Active Directory (AD) projects while mentoring junior engineers and enhancing enterprise security and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Active Directory projects from inception to completion, including planning, execution, and optimization.
- Architect and implement solutions for consolidating multiple AD domains
- Design, configure, and maintain Active Directory (AD) and Azure AD (Microsoft Entra ID) environments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Enhance AD security, automation, and governance practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align directory services with business objectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve AD-related issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Integrate and manage Microsoft Exchange and M365 environments as needed.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience with Active Directory design, implementation, and administration.
- Proven experience leading domain migration and consolidation projects.
- Experience in Azure AD (Microsoft Entra ID) and hybrid identity configurations.
- Strong understanding of Group Policy Management and authentication protocols.
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange and M365 is a plus.
- Ability to develop scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash, PERL) for automation and management.
- Knowledge with Active Directory Enhance Security Model, Modern Privilege Access Model and Microsoft Rapid Modernization Model
- Knowledge of Identity Management, Microsoft Exchange, Quest Active Roles Server (ARS) are preferable.
- Must have deep and thorough understanding of Active Directory monitoring best practices.
- Extensive experience with infrastructure and server theories, principles and concepts; application infrastructure and standards; networking fundamentals; Windows; Physical Server architecture; Virtualization Technologies (e.g. VMware, HyperV) and LAN/WAN/Firewall/VPN network technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring engineers.
