Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Lead COBOL Developer to support critical mainframe applications within a banking environment. This role is part of a high-demand team responsible for maintaining and enhancing core systems that support daily banking operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in mainframe technologies along with the ability to lead development efforts and provide production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL
- Lead development initiatives across multiple critical banking systems
- Work with JCL, Db2, and Easytrieve to support batch and online processing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Provide production support, including participation in an on-call rotation
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in a timely manner
- Ensure adherence to SDLC processes, coding standards, and documentation requirements
- Support integration efforts, including APIs and services via z/OS Connect (nice to have)
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in COBOL development within a mainframe environment
- Strong hands-on experience with JCL, Db2, and Easytrieve
- Proven ability to support and enhance legacy banking or financial systems
- Experience with production support and on-call responsibilities
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to lead technical efforts and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with z/OS Connect and API integrations
- Proven ability to support and enhance legacy banking or financial systems
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services industry
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong communication and leadership skills
