Role Summary
The Principal Architect leads the design and evolution of enterprise architecture, with a focus on the ServiceNow platform and its integrations. This role partners across project teams to define scalable solutions, improve business processes, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards, governance, and long-term technology strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture design, modeling, and solution definition across initiatives
- Define and promote enterprise architecture principles, standards, and best practices
- Translate business drivers into technology strategies and solution requirements
- Assess current IT systems, identify gaps, and recommend improvements
- Analyze industry trends and evaluate their impact on the organization
- Drive adoption and understanding of architecture practices and value
- Design and oversee implementation of enterprise architecture aligned to business goals
- Establish and enforce governance to ensure compliance with architecture standards
- Develop and maintain application and technology roadmaps
- Guide solution implementation and ensure alignment with architectural direction
- Support evaluation and standardization of software products and configurations
- Partner with development teams to align solutions or adapt architecture when needed
- Evaluate organizational and financial impacts of architecture decisions
- Produce and maintain architecture documentation and artifacts
- Collaborate with program and project management teams to ensure delivery alignment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience across multiple IT disciplines (e.g., architecture, development, infrastructure, middleware, databases, or operations)
- Experience working in client/server or service-oriented (SOA) environments
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Solution Architect
- 3+ years leading technical or architecture initiatives
- Full-stack development experience across multiple platforms or vendors
- Broad architecture experience across business, data, application, and infrastructure domains
- Proven ability to design and deliver large, complex enterprise solutions
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with effective time management
