Heitmeyer Consulting is currently hiring a remote Senior Data Engineer for our client’s mortgage lending platform initiative. This role will support the development of mortgage data products and the client’s enterprise Snowflake data layer.
The ideal candidate will combine senior-level ETL and data solution design experience with hands-on dbt and Snowflake capabilities. The consultant will lead the interpretation of business and technical requirements, validate the target-state data model, analyze source data structures and tables, develop source-to-target mappings, and design and build dbt-based ETL pipelines that move data through Snowflake and into downstream data products.
The consultant will partner closely with data engineers, platform engineers, business systems analysts, reporting teams, and other technology stakeholders.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of ETL, ELT, or data engineering experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on dbt experience developing and maintaining data models and pipelines.
- 4+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience.
- 3+ years of Python programming experience.
- Advanced SQL and data analysis skills.
- Experience leading the interpretation of business and technical requirements and translating them into scalable data solutions.
- Experience validating target-state data models and analyzing source data structures, schemas, and tables.
- Experience designing data solutions and developing detailed source-to-target mappings.
- Ability to design, build, and test dbt-based ETL pipelines from approved mappings.
- Experience mapping transactional data into Snowflake and downstream analytical or operational models.
- Experience with data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and quality controls.
- Ability to lead technical design efforts while remaining hands-on with pipeline development.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Encompass or a comparable mortgage or banking application.
- Experience working with mortgage lending, banking, or financial services data.
