Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Programmer with strong batch processing expertise to support our banking client’s multi year Debit Card Modernization program.
The ideal consultant will bring deep hands on experience with debit card processing, Visa transaction flows, and complex mainframe batch systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize mainframe batch programs supporting the Debit Card Modernization initiative
- Work on Visa-related modules, leveraging domain expertise to accelerate delivery and reduce risk
- Stabilize and enhance batch workflows, particularly in areas where maturity is currently lacking
- Support and participate in testing, validation, and issue resolution
- Support areas where batch maturity is currently limited, helping stabilize and enhance batch workflows.
- Produce high quality documentation
Required Skills:
- Strong mainframe programming background (COBOL, JCL, VSAM, utilities)
- Direct experience with:
- Debit card processing systems
- Visa processing ecosystem
- Deep batch processing experience
- Experience with distributed systems/tools (GitLab, Sonar, automated testing, Ansible, etc.) – those are examples of what is being used but any DevOps / Distributed System type experience.
- Strong documentation discipline, comfortable working within testing and validation workflows
Nice-to-Have:
- Fiserv experience (ideally debit card processor)
