Senior Business Systems Analyst / Technical Lead – Consumer Lending
Position Summary
Heitmeyer Consulting is seeking a hands-on Senior Business Systems Analyst / Technical Lead to support its Consumer Lending technology platforms, business processes, and strategic initiatives. This individual will combine advanced business analysis capabilities with technical and functional expertise to support lending applications, manage business requirements, and lead projects and implementations.
Working closely with the current manager, this individual will serve as a trusted partner and emerging leader, providing day-to-day leadership, representing management in stakeholder discussions when needed, and helping drive decisions across business and technology teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong consumer lending background, experience with loan origination systems (LOS), and the ability to lead through both technical expertise and collaboration. This role is well suited for a senior business analyst, technical lead, or hands-on technology manager who is interested in developing into a broader leadership position.
Primary Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Lead complex business analysis activities, operating at a senior-level BA capacity.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather, document, validate, and prioritize business and technical requirements.
- Facilitate working sessions, stand-ups, and stakeholder discussions to establish consensus and drive decisions.
- Translate business needs into functional requirements, process workflows, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Build and maintain test cases to validate requirements and ensure solutions meet business expectations.
- Manage incoming business requests, support tickets, and work items through Jira.
Technical Leadership & Platform Support
- Provide hands-on functional and technical support for consumer lending applications and loan origination platforms.
- Develop a strong understanding of the business group’s tools, software, workflows, and operational processes.
- Troubleshoot application issues, evaluate configuration options, and identify opportunities to improve business processes.
- Work with developers and technical teams to investigate issues, assess solutions, and support implementations.
- Apply technical knowledge of system configuration, integrations, and workflows to translate business requirements into effective solutions.
- Support coding and development activities where applicable.
Project & Implementation Leadership
- Serve as a key partner to the manager on projects, system enhancements, and implementations.
- Coordinate project activities, manage backlogs, track dependencies, and drive deliverables to completion.
- Support planning, requirements definition, testing, implementation, and post-production activities.
- Facilitate communication between business stakeholders, developers, and technology teams.
- Identify risks, resolve issues, and ensure project activities remain aligned with business priorities.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the manager’s designated backup when needed, providing leadership and representing the team in stakeholder discussions.
- Build credibility with business partners, technology teams, and leadership through strong communication and sound decision-making.
- Lead with empathy, foster collaboration, and help teams navigate competing priorities.
- Take ownership of day-to-day activities while balancing hands-on delivery with team coordination.
- Develop leadership capabilities with the potential to assume broader management responsibilities over time.
Required Qualifications
- Consumer lending experience strongly preferred, particularly with loan origination systems and lending workflows.
- Extensive experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or technical delivery, ideally at a senior or lead level.
- Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies, requirements management, workflow design, and testing.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications, system configuration, application enhancements, or software development.
- Ability to lead working sessions, facilitate stakeholder alignment, and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex business and technical issues.
- Experience managing project backlogs, support requests, requirements, and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to take ownership, make decisions, and represent management when needed.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MeridianLink Consumer or Encompass.
- Mortgage lending experience considered for candidates with a strong willingness to learn consumer lending platforms and processes.
- Experience with business process workflows, application configuration, and system integrations.
- Familiarity with XML and Java.
- Software development or coding experience is beneficial but not required for candidates with strong configuration and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience supporting loan origination system implementations, upgrades, or enhancements.
- Prior experience mentoring team members or serving as a technical lead or manager’s backup.
Location & Work Arrangement
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with flexibility to accommodate occasional personal scheduling needs.
Initial Priorities & Success Measures
During the first several months, the individual will focus on learning the lending platforms, supporting business users, and building relationships with key stakeholders.
Success will be measured by the ability to:
- Develop a strong understanding of the supported lending applications and business processes.
- Effectively manage Jira support requests and incoming business needs.
- Gather requirements, facilitate stakeholder alignment, and translate needs into actionable solutions.
- Develop test cases and coordinate testing activities.
- Support projects and implementations while managing backlogs, risks, and deliverables.
- Build trust with business and technology partners.
- Demonstrate the technical judgment, ownership, and leadership capabilities needed to serve as a reliable backup to the manager and grow into a broader leadership role.
