Role Summary
The Principal Architect plays a key role in shaping and guiding enterprise architecture across projects, with a focus on the ServiceNow platform and its integrations. This role leads solution design, ensures alignment with business and IT strategies, and drives standards, governance, and long-term technology direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture design and solution modeling across projects
- Define and promote enterprise architecture principles, standards, and best practices
- Analyze business needs and translate them into scalable technology solutions
- Evaluate current systems to identify gaps and recommend improvements
- Design and guide ServiceNow architecture, including platform capabilities and integrations
- Establish and enforce governance to ensure architectural compliance
- Develop and maintain application and technology roadmaps
- Oversee solution implementation and ensure alignment with architecture standards
- Support product selection and standardization efforts
- Collaborate with project teams to align solutions with enterprise architecture
- Assess organizational and financial impacts of architecture decisions
- Produce clear architecture documentation and artifacts
- Partner with program/project management teams to ensure delivery alignment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience across multiple IT disciplines (e.g., architecture, development, infrastructure, middleware, or databases)
- Experience in service-oriented or distributed architectures
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow, including platform architecture, CMDB, integrations, security, and release management
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Solution Architect
- 3+ years leading technical or architecture initiatives
- 3+ years working with the ServiceNow platform
- Broad architecture experience across business, application, data, and infrastructure domains
- Proven experience designing large-scale, enterprise solutions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in complex environments
