Lead Mainframe Engineer, Solution Architecture

Heitmeyer Consulting is seeking a Lead Mainframe Engineer with solution design architecture experience for its banking client in the mortgage and servicing domain. Location requirement for this role is Buffalo, NY, onsite 3 days a week.
 
Requirements:

• 3-5 years of mainframe solution design architecture experience combined with senior-level mainframe engineering experience 
• Must have hands-on experience with mainframe tech stack (COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, MQ, CA7, Xpeditor, ISPF) 
• Proficiency in leading end-to-end documentation of design and understanding of data flows across applications
• Excellent communication skills

 
Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance on designing, developing, testing, and deploying technology solutions.
• Work closely with domain leaders and enterprise architects to ensure solution designs align with business goals.
• Review and evaluate peer designs to maintain architectural quality and consistency.
• Analyze and evaluate emerging technologies and trends to assess their potential impact on the domain.

 
Nice-to-Have:

• Shaw loan servicing experience (they interface with this using it for loans and lines of credit) 
• Modern IBM z development platform including: IDz, zDIH, ADDI, DBB and z/OS Connect
• Distributed Systems experience (Gitlab, Sonar products, automated testing, Ansible, etc.)
