Job Summary:
We are seeking a Data Product Manager to join our client’s growing data team at its foundational stage. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the Data & Analytics Manager, forming a small but strategic team that will expand over time. The ideal candidate will help drive the transition from ad hoc data management to a product-oriented approach, treating data as a strategic asset and enabling the creation of a single source of truth across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curate and manage the backlog for data products, gather and refine requirements from business stakeholders, and prepare work for technical teams (initially data engineering, with potential expansion to analytics).
  • Act as the steward of data domains, ensuring data is treated as a product with clear ownership, lifecycle, and value delivery.
  • Support the shift from fragmented data practices to streamlined, scalable data pipelines and governance.
  • Present complex data topics to senior leadership in clear, accessible language.
  • Focus on specific data domains with the potential to expand into cross-domain initiatives as the team grows.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Data Product Manager or similar role focused on data as a product, not software product management.
  • Proficiency with request and backlog management tools such as Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, and JIRA.
  • Ability to read and interpret SQL for data validation and exploration.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language for executive audiences.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Background in banking, credit unions, or financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, JIRA, and Azure DevOps in a data context.

Heitmeyer Consulting is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage all qualified candidates to apply. Qualified applicants will be considered without regard to minority status, gender, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
