Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Loan Underwriter to support our growing retail loan volume and help scale our underwriting capacity in anticipation of next year’s demand. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where strong experience and adaptability are key. New hires will be paired with a seasoned Underwriter mentor to support onboarding and ensure long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite conventional loan applications in accordance with agency and company guidelines

• Assess creditworthiness, income, assets, and collateral to ensure loan quality

• Maintain accuracy and compliance while working in a high-volume retail environment

• Collaborate with underwriting team and leadership to ensure service level expectations are met

• Participate in mentorship and knowledge-sharing with a seasoned underwriter during ramp-up

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of conventional loan underwriting experience

• Ability to manage high application volumes with speed and precision

• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience underwriting government loan products (FHA, VA, USDA)

• Familiarity with higher loan value transactions

• Background in third-party lending, such as working for a wholesale broker or a bank underwriting wholesale loans
