Job Title: Data Governance Manager
Location: Milwaukee, WI & Green Bay, WI (hybrid)

Fulltime / Permanent Position

Heitmeyer Consulting is currently seeking experienced Data Governance Managers to work for one of our clients in either Milwaukee or Green Bay. These are fulltime positions requiring candidates to be onsite in either location 3 days per week. Talented Data Governance professionals that are willing to relocate will also be considered for these opportunities.

Required Skills / Background

  • Proven track record of building, developing and implementing an enterprise-wide data governance strategy, framework, and processes for a Financial Institution.
  • Guide implementation of data governance technology systems, including metadata management, data lineage, and monitoring tools.
  • 4+ years working in Data Management, Risk Management or IT with a strong governance focus (7-10 years preferred)
  • 2+ years of Python Development experience
  • Experience serving as the second line of defense—providing risk consultation on data governance, compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee policy and procedure development related to data quality, security, lineage, and stewardship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk, Information Technology, Data Science—or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders across business and tech.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with data privacy and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience working with data governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, or similar platforms.
  • Certification in data governance (e.g., DCAM, CDMP, DAMA) preferred—or ability to earn within 1 year.
  • Ataccama tool experience

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders across departments (data stewards, analysts, risk, audit, and IT) to embed governance best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on data governance for senior executives, internal audit teams, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide governance training and facilitate business engagement through steering committees and working groups.

  • Stay current on emerging data regulations, risks, and industry frameworks (DCAM, DAMA, GDPR, etc.)
