Duration: 18–24 months (Contract-to-Hire)
Location:

  • 1st preference: Buffalo, NY (onsite 4 days per week)
  • 2nd preference: 100% remote (must relocate to Buffalo for conversion)

 
Job Summary:
This role will play a key part in modernizing a mainframe environment transitioning to distributed systems. The current team consists of manual testers, BSAs, and developers, but lacks an automation engineer. We are seeking a senior-level test automation engineer to lead the effort in building automation frameworks, mentoring the team, and driving efficiency. The applications supported are mission-critical loan servicing systems.
 
Top Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the go-to person for test automation, providing leadership and mentorship.
  2. Design, develop, and execute test cases for mainframe applications based on business requirements and user stories.
  3. Build and maintain automated testing scripts and frameworks.
  4. Perform a variety of testing types including functional, integration, regression, system, UAT, and back-end testing.
  5. Identify, track, and resolve defects throughout the testing lifecycle.
  6. Manage test environments and collaborate with BSAs to implement quality best practices and regression automation.

 
Must-Have Requirements:

  • Strong senior-level test automation engineering skills with the ability to lead and mentor others.
  • Hands-on expertise in Ruby Cucumber, including the ability to code from scratch.
  • Solid mainframe technical background with experience in some (not all) of the following: COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, File-AID, TSO/ISPF, CA-7.
  • Proficiency with Selenium or a Mainframe Emulator.
  • Expertise in back-end, black-box, and white-box testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication abilities.

  • Experience with Zephyr
