Job Summary:
Our community banking client’s Credit Services team is seeking a Commercial Loan Closing Manager to oversee the commercial lending process and team. This role acts as a subject matter expert, supporting lenders and staff with complex transactions while leading the Credit Services team to maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and service. This role requires a seasoned leader who understands the nuances of commercial credit and can identify and mitigate risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation, review, and finalization of commercial loan documents (C&I, CRE, SBA). Partner with commercial bankers and attorneys to ensure documentation is accurate, compliant, and complete before booking.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial and credit teams, serving as a trusted advisor and operational leader.
- Manage a team of approximately 5 within the Credit Services function — providing training, coaching, and performance management (including hiring and termination decisions).
- Coordinate audit and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to OCC, federal, and state lending regulations.
- Monitor and continuously improve operational processes, performance metrics, and team standards.
Required Skills:
- 10–15+ years of overall banking experience, with a strong foundation in commercial lending operations.
- Deep experience in C&I and CML — originating, reviewing, and finalizing commercial loan and real estate documentation; full understanding of end-to-end commercial workflows.
- Proven people management experience (managing small teams of 3–5 or more).
- Paralegal or equivalent documentation experience, particularly handling non-standard or complex commercial deals.
- Experience in small or community banking environments (typically $1–5 billion in assets).
- Someone who can stand firm with commercial lenders, provide sound guidance, and confidently navigate gray areas with professional authority.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with nCino
- Experience with Finastra core banking systems
- Familiarity with TrueStage (loan documentation platform)
