Role Overview

Heitmeyer Consulting is looking for a Metadata Analyst who will play a key role in enabling trusted, transparent, and well?governed data across the enterprise. As part of the Enterprise Data Governance team, this position is responsible for capturing, curating, and maintaining high?quality business and technical metadata to support regulatory compliance, analytics, and AI/advanced data initiatives.

The ideal candidate partners closely with data owners, stewards, engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure enterprise data assets are clearly defined, consistently documented, and easily discoverable throughout their lifecycle.  This role will be based in Richardson, TX (Dallas area) and require hybrid on-site attendance.

Required Skills & Experience

• 2–5+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, data analysis, or data management roles
• Hands-on experience working with data catalogs or metadata management tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, DataHub, OpenMetadata, OvalEdge, or similar)
• Strong understanding of data concepts, including data lineage, data quality, data modeling, and data lifecycle management
• Experience collaborating with both technical teams (data engineering, architecture) and business stakeholders
• Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to translate complex technical data concepts into clear, business?friendly language
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Nice?to?Have Skills

• Experience supporting regulatory, risk, privacy, or compliance?driven data initiatives
• Familiarity with enterprise data governance frameworks and operating models
• Exposure to cloud data platforms and modern data architectures
• Experience supporting analytics or AI enablement through well?governed metadata
• Relevant certifications such as DAMA?CDMP, Collibra, Alation, or similar

Job Responsibilities

• Capture, document, and maintain business, technical, and operational metadata for enterprise data assets, including datasets, reports, pipelines, and data products
• Populate and curate the enterprise data catalog to improve data discoverability, understanding, and reuse
• Partner with data owners and data stewards to define business terms, data definitions, lineage, and usage context
• Support the development and ongoing maintenance of the enterprise business glossary and metadata standards
• Assist in documenting data lineage, data flows, and transformations across systems and platforms
• Collaborate with data governance, data quality, architecture, and engineering teams to embed metadata practices into data delivery processes
• Support data classification, sensitivity tagging, and compliance requirements, including regulatory, privacy, and risk considerations
• Monitor metadata completeness and quality; identify gaps and drive remediation efforts
• Contribute to continuous improvement of metadata processes, templates, and governance tooling adoption
• Provide guidance and support to data consumers on how to find, interpret, and use governed data assets
