Senior Program Manager – SOX Governance (Consultant)

Job Summary:
Our banking client has a critical leadership gap and is seeking an experienced, execution-focused SOX leader who can immediately step in and run the program with minimal ramp up. This individual will ensure continuity of SOX governance, maintain audit readiness, and effectively manage stakeholder relationships (internal audit, consulting vendor, and testing teams).
This position is 3-4 months engagement and is 100% remote working EST hours. 

Top 3 Priorities in First 90 Days:

1. Own and lead SOX program governance with full accountability from day one
2. Drive walkthroughs and control assessments independently, ensuring audit readiness
3. Stabilize and lead cross-functional stakeholders (consulting teams, internal audit, junior team members)

Required Skills (Must-Haves):

• Senior-level SOX Program Management leadership experience
• Deep expertise in SOX compliance and control frameworks
• Proven ability in assessing control deficiencies and remediation strategies
• Banking industry experience (Accounting/Finance focus required)
• Strong stakeholder management (internal audit, external auditors, consulting firms)
• Demonstrated ability to lead working sessions and walkthroughs independently
• Assertive, strong communicator – able to push back and challenge stakeholders

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Seasoned consulting professional
• Prior experience managing outsourced SOX testing teams
• Background in regulatory reporting or governance frameworks
• Experience stepping into interim or transformation roles
