Mortgage Loan Processor
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Loan Processor to support the residential mortgage lending process from loan application through submission to underwriting. This role is responsible for gathering, reviewing, validating, and organizing loan documentation while serving as a key liaison between borrowers, loan officers, underwriting, and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong organizational skills, excellent time management, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in mortgage loan processing and document management within the banking industry is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Process residential mortgage loan files from application through underwriting submission.
- Review loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with underwriting and investor guidelines.
- Gather, organize, and validate all documentation required to satisfy underwriting conditions.
- Coordinate with loan officers, borrowers, and third-party vendors to obtain missing information and resolve documentation issues.
- Submit complete underwriting packages in accordance with established service level agreements.
- Monitor loan pipelines and proactively communicate scheduling concerns or processing delays to management and loan officers.
- Perform quality reviews to ensure data integrity and consistency with automated underwriting recommendations.
- Maintain accurate loan records and documentation throughout the loan lifecycle.
- Prepare reports and track pipeline activity as requested by management.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and secondary market guidelines.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months of mortgage loan processing experience supporting residential mortgage originations.
- Experience processing conventional and government loan products, including FHA, VA, FNMA, and FHLMC loans.
- Minimum of 3 years of records or document management experience, preferably within banking or financial services.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including:
- Excel
- Outlook
- Word
- Teams
- SharePoint
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple loan files simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, loan officers, underwriters, and management.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with loan origination systems such as UNIFI or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with automated underwriting tools including Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Product Advisor (formerly Loan Prospector).
- Previous banking or financial services experience.
- Experience supporting secondary market loan processing requirements.

Additional Information
This position is responsible for mortgage loan processing activities only and is not considered a Mortgage Loan Originator under the SAFE Act or a Loan Originator under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). The successful candidate will be expected to perform all responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and company policies.
