Heitmeyer Consulting is currently hiring a remote Data Engineer for our client’s mortgage lending platform initiative. This role will support the development of mortgage data products and the client’s enterprise Snowflake data layer.

The ideal candidate will combine strong ETL and data engineering capabilities with hands-on experience in dbt, Snowflake, SQL, and data mapping. The consultant must be able to understand business and technical requirements, interpret the target-state data model, analyze source data structures and tables, develop source-to-target mappings, and build dbt-based ETL pipelines from those mappings.

The consultant will partner closely with senior data engineers, platform engineers, business systems analysts, reporting teams, and other technology stakeholders.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of ETL, ELT, or data engineering experience.
• 1+ year of hands-on dbt experience developing and maintaining data models and pipelines.
• 1+ year of Python programming experience.
• Hands-on Snowflake experience.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
• Ability to understand business and technical requirements and translate them into implementable data solutions.
• Experience interpreting target-state data models and analyzing source data structures, schemas, and tables.
• Experience developing detailed source-to-target mappings.
• Ability to build and test dbt-based ETL pipelines from approved mappings.
• Experience mapping transactional data into Snowflake and downstream analytical or operational models.
• Experience with data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and quality controls.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Encompass or a comparable mortgage or banking application.
• Experience working with mortgage lending, banking, or financial services data.
