Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Splunk Engineer to join our banking client’s security engineering team. This role will focus on full stack engineering, data modeling, automation, upgrades, and break-fix support as we continue to onboard data sources following a Splunk production launch. The ideal candidate will have deep engineering expertise in Splunk and related technologies, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and communicate technical strategies to leadership.
 
Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement data models, automation, and coding solutions within Splunk.
• Support ongoing upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure system stability.
• Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to enhance monitoring and response capabilities.
• Work closely with developers and leadership, including presenting strategies to senior executives.
• Participate in DevSecOps initiatives to improve security and compliance processes.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

 
Required Skills:

• 7+ years of hands-on Splunk engineering experience.
• Strong background in data modeling
• Proficiency in full-stack programming using Python or similar languages.
• Understanding of API calls, web services, and distributed environments.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with junior engineers.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present strategies to leadership, including the CIO.

 
Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience standing up automation using Ansible and integration with GitLab  
• Experience in banking or financial services.
• Familiarity with Sonar and IBM Guardian for database monitoring.
