Location: 100% Remote (Must support EST business hours)
Duration: 18–24 Month Contract

?Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Consultant with Production Support and Development background for a role supporting a high?risk, mission?critical banking platform tied to account reconciliation and fraud detection. This role is heavily focused on production support, system stability, and maintenance. There may be development in phase 2 of the project when migrating to SAS. The incoming consultant will ramp up through structured knowledge transfer and then assume full responsibility for day?to?day production support, batch processing, on?call coverage, and permanent code fixes. 
This role requires comfort supporting nightly batch cycles and after?hours job failures in a regulated banking environment with strict SLAs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide production support and maintenance for a mainframe Account Reconciliation System (ARS)

2. Diagnose, mitigate, and permanently resolve production issues through code fixes

3. Support high volume batch processing, intraday jobs, and file transmissions

4. Rerun failed jobs, troubleshoot batch failures, and coordinate with the Transmission Team

5. Support nightly batch cycles (processing until approximately 7:30 PM EST)

6. Gradually assume on call / afterhours support, including 1:00 AM job failures

7. Independently review, understand, and modify legacy mainframe code with minimal guidance

8. Document fixes, procedures, and support processes

9. Potential contribution to Phase 2 SAS migration development

Required Skills:

• Comfort with nighttime and on call production support (after ramp up)

• 10+ years of combined mainframe development and production support experience

• Strong hands on experience with COBOL, JCL, Easytrieve, VSAM

• Proven success supporting high volume batch processing environments

• Ability to read and understand complex legacy code independently

• Experience troubleshooting and fixing production issues under SLA pressure

• Background supporting mission critical banking systems

Nice to Have Skills:

• Account Reconciliation systems

• Fraud detection or risk management platforms

• Integration between mainframe systems and SAS

• Experience with Fiserv products

• Exposure to Hogan systems

• Check processing or payment batch systems
